The Value of Continuing Education
Learning something new not only helps the brain function more effectively but improves focus, overall confidence, and self-esteem. As wellness practitioners it is important to stay current on the trends of the industry and the legal climate to keep our employees informed with the latest health information. While some pursue continuing education to receive specific certifications and others continue their education for professional or personal fulfillment and satisfaction, continuing education is something that is readily available now and more recognized than ever before. Professionals who pursue continuing education units (CEU) on a regular basis are more informed and up to date with what is happening within their industries. They are more aware and educated when it comes to current practices. This gives them an edge over their competitors. The advantage lies with those whose skills and knowledge are current and relevant in the workplace.
Learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets.

The Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) has been training worksite wellness practitioners and those charged with designing and implementing worksite wellness programs for over 30 years. WELCOA has been a leader in training by providing industry and expert insight for skill development, knowledge enhancement and process improvement.
Meeting the Challenge
Limited continuing education budgets, travel to seminars or time away from the office can make it challenging to gain current insight into workplace wellness emerging topics and get continuing education completed. Membership with WELCOA provides you with access to a library of over 40 webinars and certification courses that you can take at your convenience from your desktop or mobile device, as a member benefit.
Faculty Designation
In the absence of a credentialing body for worksite wellness, and the desire to ensure that ongoing education and training is a priority in the field, WELCOA established the Faculty Designation. To become recognized as WELCOA Faculty, simply join WELCOA and complete 4 certification courses. It’s an investment of just 16-20 hours. We’ve mapped out a guided journey for you below to gain the most relevant information to help you become familiar with the best approach to worksite wellness.
Those people who develop the ability to continuously acquire new and better forms of knowledge, that they can apply to their work and to their lives, will be the movers and shakers in our society for the indefinite future.
