The University System of Georgia (USG) is comprised of 26 higher education institutions as well as the University System Office (USO). Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta.
Job Summary
The Director of Employee Well-being and Student Health Insurance has the responsibility for the strategic leadership of the USG well-being program. This includes developing the vision, direction and management for the well-being program. Effectively market and communicate the program to engage employees and increase participation. The Director will partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement in the health of the USG population. The Director will ensure the quality and effectiveness of the well-being program and care management programs and ensure effective implementation on the USG campuses. This will include tracking program effectiveness, participation, and outcomes and will provide recommendations and opportunities for continual improvement. This position will ensure the program is in compliance with regulatory and statutory rules. In addition, this position will be responsible for the strategy and communication of the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), working with committees and stakeholders to ensure the successful rollout of the program each year.
Responsibilities
The major responsibilities are as follows:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the overall well-being program for the University System of Georgia.
- Work collaboratively with institutional leadership, vendors and consultants to create innovative well-being programs to enable USG institutions to attract top talent and to improve or maintain the health of current employees.
- Lead the overall well-being program administration including contract negotiations, vendor and consultant relationships and compliance oversight.
- Present, inform and advise senior level leadership regarding well-being strategy.
- Lead and support system-wide well-being committees and SHIP Advisory Committee.
- Serve on system-wide committees as appointed
- Maintain appropriate relationships with community health partners to integrate community programs into the overall well-being strategy
- Advise leadership on trends and relevant laws and other environmental factors impacting employer-based well-being programs and impact to engagement and participation.
- Maintain well-being liaison contact network and supports well-being champion network development at campus locations.
- Determine program success data measurement points and continuously monitors the program against program goals and metrics
- Oversee the communication strategy and works closely with internal resources to develop and implement the strategy.
- Manage staff and provide day-to-day leadership for the USG well-being program.
- Work with the Process manager to ensure policies and procedures related to the well-being program are in place and up-to-date and recommend new policy based on strategic plan.
- Identify areas of opportunity for cost savings to plan and participants, efficiencies in plan operations and risk reduction.
- Work with internal and external advisors, attorneys, and experts to meet goals and objectives.
- Responsible for the vendor management and overall administrative procedures of the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
- Collaborates with institutional stakeholders to ensure successful communication and implementation of the SHIP plan each Academic year.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field required or equivalent experience and training in public health or health education
- At least five years’ experience in a leadership or strategic decision-making role
- At least five years’ experience administering well-being programs in a large employer setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare plan administration and with the rules and laws applicable to healthcare plans
- Higher education experience· Strong communication and marketing experience
- Large Event Planning experience
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist, Certified Wellness Practitioner or Disease Management Certification, preferred
