Recreation Administrator – Corporate & Community Wellness

Primary Focus:
Under the direction of the Director of Recreation Services and with guidance from a cross functional work team comprised of representatives from Economic Development, Human Resources and others, the successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning and coordination of corporate and community wellness initiatives for the City of Dublin.

These initiatives will focus on the development of a suite of wellness services and recreational programming for Dublin businesses, a community based wellness program and new and enhanced partnerships with local academic institutions, private sector businesses, hospitals and community health agencies.

Given the nature of this classifications duties/responsibilities, it has been designated as Exempt under the governing Fair Labor Standards Act regulations and, therefore, is not entitled to formal overtime compensation and/or formal compensatory time.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 
Supervises seasonal and part time staff.

Essential Duties: 

  • Prepares and executes strategic plan in alignment with the City of Dublin’s corporate and community wellness goals.
  • Develops and oversees corporate and community wellness programs and leads community partnership initiatives.
  • Creates and enhances collaborative partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Attends numerous community meetings, identifies potential partnerships, develops a strategic action plan and successfully acts on that plan with measurable results.
  • Develops an understanding of the related projects occurring across various departments and weaves that into wellness action plans. Key departments include Economic Development, Parks and Recreation and Human Resources.
  • Evaluates numerous city-wide wellness opportunities and develops a structure and plan to leverage all opportunities into a cohesively executed plan.
  • Acts as the lead city representative on all issues of corporate and community wellness.
  • Develops an understanding of how each city department and community partner works and successfully engages them in relevant projects.
  • Exploring potential health insurance cost-savings programs that can be shared with Dublin corporate residents.
  • Tracks and manages all Recreation Services contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science, Corporate Wellness, Community Health, Health Promotion, Public Health or related field required.
  • Experience in health promotion and incentive program planning and implementation required.
  • Considerable experience in developing, delivering and measuring health education programs.
  • The successful candidate will have experience in corporate and community wellness, leading community partnership initiatives and strategic planning with successful project execution.
  • Successful candidates should be comfortable speaking in front of and leading groups of community partners and engaging action toward a common goal.
  • Experience with coalition and team building required.
  • Substantive knowledge of and strong interest in the health issues of community required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher required.
  • Successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work independently with efficiency and precision.
  • Ability to establish a trusting rapport with employees in all levels of the organization and use appropriate discretion and confidentiality when discussing personal health related topics.
  • Ability and desire to work independently, but in a team atmosphere.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, general recreation programming and sound financial practices.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • The nature of this position requires the incumbent to work flexible hours.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for occasional facility operational/safety needs.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment in performing essential functions of work.
