When it comes to building your worksite wellness program, do you know which types of incentives are permissible, which laws impact wellness program design and implementation, and how health reform, federal guidance and court cases will continue to change the rules for wellness? Wellness Alliance has partnered with Wellness Law Attorney, Barbara Zabawa, to provide live quarterly webinars guiding participants on best practices when it comes to the legal landscape of your wellness program.

This session will be an interactive discussion with Senior Health Strategist, Heather Sittler, about wellness program challenges, from a legal perspective, and how her company, Hylant, solved those challenges.

In this month’s webinar, attendees will learn about the legal landscape faced by health and wellness coaches. Many workplace wellness programs use wellness coaches as part of the program. Therefore, it is important for both the coaches and entities that hire them to understand the legal issues relating to providing health and wellness coaching services.

In this month’s Legal Updates series, attendees will learn about the significance of wellness programs being deemed or part of a health plan. Different legal requirements apply to group health plan wellness programs than non-group health plan wellness programs. This session will cover those legal differences, and how you can determine whether your wellness program is a group health plan wellness program.

In recognition of the U.S. tax filing deadline, this month’s session will address how wellness programs may impact income taxes. Barbara will cover what incentives are taxable, taxation issues with regard to Health Savings Accounts and wellness programs, and who is responsible for reporting income for tax purposes.

This month, Barbara Zabawa hosts our first legal roundtable where participants will be able to share their stories, challenges, and ask questions regarding wellness compliance issues.

In this session, we will cover where different wellness laws come from, such as federal, state or case law, which governing authorities enforce the different wellness laws, and where the wellness practitioner can look for guidance for the different sources of law.

In this session, Barbara will discuss the details of the proposed EEOC wellness incentive rules, released on January 7, 2021. Now that language is available to review and analyze, it will be easier for Barbara to answer questions and explain what the new rules mean for workplace wellness incentives going forward.

This month’s webinar will explore the different legal issues that arise when employers adopt onsite clinics as part of their effort to improve employee health and wellness.
